Colin sent more pictures last night They certainly are moving fast!
I found it interesting that the part of the axle mounting plates needs to be removed (picture nine). When I was at his shop he explained that water sometimes gets in between the plates and the frame and will grow rust , it can change the dimensions enough that an ordered axle might not fit! He welds the top edge to prevent water from getting in. Hopefully this makes sense!
By the way, I don't just get pictures from Colin. I get detailed invoices about the time/work and materials. That I won't post here but there's no surprises, I always know where I stand.
Wire wheeling chassis.
Original coupler removed
Ends of boxed “C” channel “A” frame capped to eliminate vermin infiltration & road debris & water.
Holes in frame filled that originally were meant for a sway control base plate.
adding 2” angle to crossmember.
Step removed in preparation for rebuilding.
Axle mounting plate cut open & rust removed, acid washed in preparation to be re-installed.
New tongue being fitted to “A” frame.
